GOOSE FISHING REPORT JULY 4

The water is heating up....time to change tactics. If you are fishing from the beach, it's time to start going at night. If you are a power boat or kayak fisherman, it's time to get out the tube and worm, lead core / wire rigs or vertical jigging set ups. In both Cape Cod Bay and Monomoy, the primary forage is still squid. Very unusual this late in the season. Plan your tackle selection accordingly. 9'ER umbrella rigs in the Bay are the ticket right now.

Fishing on the outer beaches has been spotty. The guys doing the best have transitioned over to live eels or swimming plugs after dark. There are some decent fish being caught off the beach, but you are going to have to put in some late evening hours. It could be really worth it though.

There are bonito in the bay....hit or miss whether you will run into them , but they are now present.

Bluefin Tuna fishing has started in earnest. Watch out what you keep though. The buyers don't want the big ones. Market is saturated for the time being.
