For spring 2025, we have arranged for a number of Goose Endorsed Charter captains to submit daily reports to the Goose Hummock Fishing Report page.

Today's Report:

It's Labor Day...the unofficial kick off for the fall fishing season!!!

Goose Endorsed Charter Capt Scott Yelle reports decent tuna fishing out east, but sporadic in CC Bay and on the Bank the past few days. Striper fishing has been great in Truro and Race point on live Macs.... most of the fish have been BIG.

bluefish have been spotty, but they are around.

Goose Pro Staffer Arron Nickerson has been looking for the Albies this week. He has gotten good reports of big ones around Nantucket and the Elizabeths, but they haven't really crossed the Sound yet and gotten into our neck of the woods...yet. He has been finding decent numbers of bonito and bluefish in Nantucket Sound.

Goose General Manager Nick P has been getting into over slot Stripers in the sound down the Chatham/ Harwich way.

Most of the action in the Sound has been in the Chatham/ Harwich area, but we have learned of some impressive catches as far up as the Bass River up in Yarmouth.

Bonito fishery is still remarkably prolific...Goose endorsed charter Captains Greg Wiesel , Capt. Scott Yelle, Capt. Eric Newhouse are sending us tons of pics and reports of great trips over the past few days. Our own Pro Staffer Aaron Nickerson has been hammering them from his kayak off Chatham the past few days. Both the Bay and Nantucket Sound have been producing. MightyFish hard tail epoxy jigs are still the way to go for these guys..make sure you have a good variety of sizes and colors on hand though. On some bites, they have been a little "picky/ choosey" about what they will hit.

What the Goose endorsed Charter Captains are saying:

Goose Endorsed Charter Captain Steve Leary says :

" Despite frequent changes in wind direction and air temp mixing up the bay, seasonal indicators are that the early fall migration patterns are in place.
Bass and bluefish are setting up in the lower bay in 10-50' from Barnstable to the Canal. Bass are still feeding on an abundance of sand eels.
JIgging along the bottom with black/purple and black/chartreuse jigs and trolling black tube umbrella rigs are getting it done.
Blues to 32" have been hammering the MightyFish Hot Pink hoochies. I run them on 200' of wire at 7 knots! The hookups are pretty spectacular."

Goose Endorsed Charter Captain Scott Yelle says:

Goose endorsed Charter Capt. Scott Yelle/ Ortus Charters says: "Fishing is still strong for bass around Provincetown. Bass are feeding on live Mack’s and anything that looks like a sand eel!

The bluefish have been sporadic ...but, that's sure to change "

On the freshwater front, the largemouth fishing has been awesome. They are starting to move into their fall pattern and we have gotten pics of a few 5lb+!!!

With the cooler nights we have been getting, the trout have been starting to venture out of their deep water, mid summer spots and venturing near shore early mornings and evenings. Fall trout fishing is often overlooked- the ponds get quiet after Labor Day and many of the ponds will get a generous stocking very soon. Give it a try if the tides aren't right in your favorite saltwater spots.
