Today's Report:
05/08/25.
It's on!!!!!...the Saltwater fishing scene has changed dramatically since our last report.
This is the time of year when fishing will change( usually for the better) each day as the waters continue to warm and new fish arrive and spread out.
This week will be a Nantucket Sound game and you will want to focus your efforts there. Particularly on the mid and Upper Cape.
Most of the Striper reports we are getting are of fish in the 16 to 20 inch range, but we did have two reports and pics of fish in and around the 40 inch mark.
Squid fishing is off the hook now in Hyannis, but we have had reports of decent activity as far down as Dennis.
Tog fishing is becoming steadier with decent catches as far down as Yarmouth.
If you are a freshwater fisherman, May is primetime. Many fisherman will abandon the ponds at the first reliable reports that Striper fishing has begun and the fishing pressure on the ponds goes down in a meaningful way. The State stocked some beautiful tigers, browns and brookies this year and some of the best fishing of the year can be had as water temps in the ponds are nearly ideal in May.
In all but the deepest , coldest ponds, the bass will be in spawn mode and you will have to change tactics a bit. Remember to gently release the females if you get'em.
Saltwater spring time fishing is in full swing...get out there!
Phil and Danny talk about all things happening in Cape Cod Fishing this week.
