With the super abundance of photos and videos we have been posting on this site, you probably have gotten the hint that striper action is in full swing. But, what you may not be aware of is that folks are starting to get into the togs pretty good this week....and some good ones at that! Capt Doug Edmonds and Goose GM Nicky P got into them up to 12lbs on a trip a couple of days ago.(see video above)
Particularly on the Cape Cod Bay side, big stripers were the lead story. We got quite a few pics, videos and reports of fish into and above the 40" class from Goose endorsed Charter Captains Steve Leary, Doug Brown, Chris Blake, Brett Wilson and Doug Edmonds this week. If you are looking to book a trip, you can contact these gentlemen here. They all have been on the fish all week for their clients.
The beach fishing guys are reporting hit or miss fishing, particularly on the Soundside, but our customers that have made the jump into fishing kayaks, have been able to cover alot more ground and have stayed in the fish more consistently. We have seen some really nice catches from the kayak guys this week.
One shore fisherman that did really well this week is long time Goose customer Tommy Couture. He says you have to put in your time , but advises fishing the dropping tide is the way to go on the bayside.
If you are a freshwater fisherman, we have never had more photos and reports of 5+ lb largemouth than we have this year. We aren't really sure why ,but if the tides in saltwater aren't optimal, grab your fresh water stick and give the local ponds a try. There are some truly big fish coming out of Cape Cod ponds this year.
We love that our customers are having a blast catching these big fish and we want you to keep your pics coming...Just remember, lots of these big fish are spawning females. Be sure to get your pic, then gently and quickly release the females if you get'em.
Cape Cod springtime fishing is in full swing...get out there!
